Background:	AGDP1/ADCP1 is a heterochromatin-binding protein that specifically recognizes histone H3K9me2 marks. It preferentially binds to long transposons and is required for transcriptional silencing, non‑CG DNA methylation, and H3K9 dimethylation at some loci. AGDP1 localizes to the nucleus, heterochromatin, and centromeric regions.
